What is We CAN India?
We CAN India is a pioneering educational and life skills training institution founded by Dr. Gita Sankaran, with over 25 years of experience in autism support and inclusive education. We are committed to helping neurodiverse individuals build meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives through structured, evidence-based learning programs.
All our educational and intervention programs are grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), combined with functional life-skills and structured learning suited to each learner.
Who Do You Work With?
We work with toddlers, children, and adults across the autism spectrum, as well as those with diverse developmental and learning needs.
What Age Groups Do You Support?
We support both adults and children, across different developmental stages. Program suitability depends on individual learning and support needs. Please contact us for a personal consultation.
What Services Do You Offer?
Our services include:
Diagnostics: ADOS-2 gold standard diagnosis for autism for young children, Autism adult tests, and ADHD brown scale tests across age groups.
Intervention: Evidence-backed ABA intervention across the spectrum and ages.
Life skills: Focus on daily routine functionality.
Community support: Navigating the real world in a holistic manner.
Vocational support: Exploring possible avenues for employability and recreation.
Parental guidance: Professional guidance to families.
Emotional support: Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to enhance overall well-being.
Holistic activities: Incorporating weaving, hydroponic gardening, yoga, fitness, and Carnatic music to promote focus, calm, and everyday engagement.
How Is an Intervention Plan Decided?
It is a two-step process:
- Clinical diagnosis, if required using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2).
- Skill mapping, using the VB-MAPP, the ABLLS-R, or Essential for Living, as required.
The clinical team then makes a customized intervention plan based on the assessments and observation based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to achieve functional outcome for each learner.
Is the Program Individualized?
Yes. Every learner receives an individualized program plan.There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
How Often Will My Child Attend?
We CAN operates like the regular schooling system with three academic terms and scheduled breaks for winter, summer, and major festivals, government mandated holidays. Children come into the Center five days a week.
Are Learners Required to Wear a Uniform?
Yes, learners are required to wear the We CAN uniform. We have both a regular uniform and a sports uniform; detailed guidelines and specifications will be shared with parents at the time of admission.
Do You Provide Progress Reports?
We believe in transparent communication between us and the family to ensure consistency across environments.
Communication diary: The diary is used for immediate feedback and updates between us and the family.
Progress updates: Periodic reports are sent to parents detailing the child’s milestones and goals.
The families also have access to the BCBAs and the team via email, apart from the administrative office via mobile/Whatsapp.
What About Academics?
For learners who are academically ready, we support them in appearing as private candidates through NIOS, enabling pursuit of formal academic qualifications at an appropriate pace.
How Is the Fee Structured?
In keeping with personalized intervention plans, our fees are structured on the intensity and structure of each learner’s intervention.
Sliding fee system: Fees range from ₹1,80,000/- to ₹6,60,000/- per annum. The exact cost depends on the intensity of intervention that each family chooses and the level of support provided by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Payment schedule: Payments are structured term-wise for your convenience.
Are Scholarships or Financial Assistance Available?
Yes. Through the We CAN Trust, we strive to ensure financial limitations do not prevent children from accessing essential intervention and education.
For families from backgrounds that may not be able to support program costs, the Trust offers scholarships and financial assistance, including subsidized or fully supported education and intervention, based on need and fund availability.
