Gita started her professional career as a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary. Finding that numbers are not half as interesting as people are, motivated her to change career paths. She began the center catering to only about 10 children with Autism armed with great intentions and little knowledge, she went on to pursue her Masters in ABA from Ball State University, USA and qualified as a BCBA – currently 1 of 30 Board Certified Professionals in India. Her center now provides one to one ABA services for 30 individuals, while she personally consults and provides behavioral assistance and therapy to over a 100 families a year. She heads outreach programs where she travels to remote locations and provides workshops and consultations to teachers, therapists, families and individuals affected by Autism. Her clinical work has been presented at scientific conferences across the globe. Gita currently heads WeCAN as managing director and CEO of the diagnostics, counselling and support services wing – ProACT Behavioral Services.

Swati holds a Masters Degree in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) from Ball State University, USA. A person who wandered into the field by chance, realized that this was the career of her dreams. With her entry into the organization in 2015, there is renewed commitment to increasing our scientific presence across the globe and an enthusiasm for learning. Her clinical work has been presented at scientific conferences across the globe. Swati is closely involved in creating IEPs for those enrolled in WeCAN for Direct Intervention – ABA and Early intervention – ABA and in outreach programs, offering training workshops and consultations to teachers, therapists, families and individuals affected by Autism. She is currently the COO of ProACT Behavioral Services – the diagnostics, counselling and support services wing of WeCAN.

Administration:

Sharada Rajaram heads the admin team at WeCAN, coordinating for vocational projects and interfaces actively between WeCAN and corporates and government agencies.

Gita is an ACT Therapist and CEO of ProACT consultancy that provides Acceptance and Commitment Therapy counselling, she specializes in grief counseling specifically counseling women, marital counseling and depression, anxiety and body image issues. 

She is an ADOS-2 Clinician and has diagnosed over 20 cases of autism in children under 5 years of age using the gold standard tool. She obtained her qualification and training for Modules 1 – 4 from the University of Illinois, Springfield – Hope Institute in 2018 and her toddler Module Training under the ADOS-2 author Whitney Guthrie in Dubai in 2019. 

She is a PEAK level 1 certificant, trained by by Dr. Jordan Belisle, PhD, BCBA and Dr. Megan Miller, BCBA-D, LBA – PEAK ABA Solutions in New York, May 2018 and a PECS level 1 certificant trained by Catherine Horton in America and obtained the certification in Aberdeen, Scotland from PECS UK. 

She actively supervises Registered Behavior Technicians and aspiring BCBAs both within and outside her center. She is now working towards her Doctoral Studies in Psychology at CalSouthern University, USA and hopes to make it possible for women in India to recognize the need for help in the area of mental health and to make mental health an important and accessible aspect of everyday living!
